If your looking to save money on your water bill, your toilet is "THE" first place to start. Please read below, and feel free to email Ron if you have any questions:

1) How do I know if my toilet is leaking water?

There are a couple of ways to determine if your loosing water. Put food coloring in the tank of your toilet and without flushing, see if the water turns color in the bowl. If you see the water turning color after a few minutes, your wasting water and money. Another way, using your water meter, make sure no other water is running anywhere in the house, watch the water meter dial and see if its turning, you might have to mark it with a marker, go have a beer, then come back and see if it has moved. Make sure you don't use any water while testing as the dial will move and you will have to start over. The water meter method is a "whole house" way of seeing if your wasting water.

2) Can I put a brick or some other form of water displacing device in my toilet tank to save water?

Yes and no, If your toilet is designed to use the water normally stored in your tank, displacing the water will cause problems with the flush, in other words, you might use even more water when you have to flush twice after that nice turkey dinner. The best way to save money is to buy a toilet that is designed to use less water, install it and start saving water.

3)I have seen these two button toilets, are they any good?

You bet! two button flush allows a small flush for the urine, and a larger flush for the solids. There are different manufactures of two button toilets, I have found the ones from the "down under" work the best, they never seem to plug, plus they use so little water its almost magic as to how they work.
